Questions & Answers
Q: Is this to be used as a coop?
A: The Peck and Play is not designed to be used as a coop or permanent housing solution.
Q: Can the chickens get out of this enclosure?
A: The Peck and Play comes with six L-Shaped stakes that keep the enclosure snug to the ground. We have yet to see a chicken dig under the enclosure or escape but I guess it is possible if they are determined.
Q :At only 5 pounds or so, won’t this blow over in the wind?
A: It will on a windy day only if you do not use the stakes. With the included stakes in place, it will not blow over.
Q: How many chickens will fit in the enclosure?
A: It really depends on how much room you want each chicken to have. The Peck and Play offers approximately 17 square feet of ranging area.
Q: Will this protect my chickens/fowl from predators?
A: It will protect them from aerial predators such as hawks. It will not protect them from dogs, coyotes, foxes or the like as these types of predators can dig underneath the enclosure or jump on top of it and smash it down.
Q: Do I need a tool to put the stakes in the ground?
A. You should not need any type of tool to insert the stakes into the ground. If you find the ground is too hard, perhaps wet it a little to soften it up.
